The Corsair K70 RGB Full-size is the OG battlestation keyboard that built half the legends in this category. Black brushed aluminum top plate, Cherry MX switches under every key, per-key RGB, dedicated media controls, and a chunky volume wheel that just feels good to spin. This bad boy has been a desk staple for years and the formula still holds up.
Build quality is where the K70 still embarrasses a lot of newer keyboards. The anodized aluminum frame doesn’t flex, the switches are genuine Cherry MX (not knockoffs), and the detachable wrist rest is soft-touch rubber instead of the cheap molded plastic you get on budget boards. It weighs enough to stay put during a frag session and not slide around when you yank the cable.
The Cherry MX switches are the real story here. Depending on the SKU you’ll find Red (linear, light, fast), Brown (tactile, all-round), Blue (clicky, loud), Silver Speed (shorter actuation for gaming), or Silent Red (linear with dampened housing). Cherry’s switches feel consistent across the whole board — no scratchy outliers, no inconsistent bottom-out. They’re the benchmark for a reason.
RGB lighting is per-key with deep iCUE integration. iCUE is Corsair’s software ecosystem and it goes deep — per-key effects, profile linking to specific games, reactive lighting, even cross-device sync if you have other Corsair gear. It’s overkill if you just want a rainbow wave, but if you actually want to program lighting it’s one of the most powerful tools in the keyboard world.
Where this board shows its age is in the modern feature checklist. There’s no hot-swap, no wireless, no per-key OLED nonsense, no rotary encoder beyond the volume wheel, and no PBT keycaps in the box — Corsair ships ABS doubleshots that will eventually shine on the high-traffic keys. The cable is also non-detachable, which is a bummer in 2026 when even $60 boards come with USB-C.
Typing feel is excellent and gaming performance is exactly what you’d expect from a 1000Hz polling Cherry MX board with full N-key rollover. Macros are programmable through iCUE, there’s a tournament mode switch on the top edge that kills lighting and locks profiles, and the dedicated media controls (skip, pause, mute) are right where your fingers want them.

The K70 RGB Full-size is the keyboard your buddy who’s been gaming since Quake keeps recommending. It’s not flashy on the spec sheet next to 2026 boards, but the build, the Cherry MX switches, the aluminum frame, and the iCUE software stack are all best-in-class. If you want a no-compromise wired full-size that will outlast three mice and two GPUs, this is the play.
