Description

The ZIYOULANG Type C Wireless Mechanical Keyboard is the kind of board that makes you wonder how the budget wireless mechanical keyboard market got this good this fast. For under $30 you get a true wireless mechanical with 2.4GHz dongle connectivity, USB-C wired fallback, PBT keycaps, and a compact full-key layout that programmers actually want. Five years ago this combination didn’t exist at any price. Now it’s a Walmart impulse buy.

The wireless implementation is the headline feature. The included 2-in-1 receiver is a slim USB-C dongle that plugs into any modern laptop or desktop, with sub-millisecond latency that’s genuinely imperceptible in daily typing. When you forget to charge the keyboard (and you will), the USB-C cable plugs directly into the same port the dongle uses, so you don’t lose a port. Battery life is rated for around 30 hours with the backlight off, dropping to maybe 8 to 10 hours with full RGB. Most programmers leave the lighting off and squeeze a full work week out of a charge.

The layout is compact full-key — not a 60% — which is a meaningful difference for code-heavy work. You get a dedicated number row, arrow keys, and a function row, all in a footprint slightly larger than a 65% board. Programmers who use arrow keys constantly will appreciate not having to learn a function-layer remap. Vim refugees who never quite committed to hjkl will be thrilled.

The keycaps are where the price-to-value ratio gets ridiculous. Dye-sub PBT at this price point is nearly unheard of. PBT keycaps don’t shine over time like ABS does, the legends won’t fade in six months, and the texture is more pleasant under prolonged typing. Most budget wireless boards ship with ABS — getting PBT here feels like a manufacturing error in the buyer’s favor.

The trade-offs are mostly around features rather than build. There’s no Bluetooth — only 2.4GHz dongle and wired modes. Tablet users won’t be able to pair this directly. The switches are not hot-swappable, so the included Red linear switches are what you keep unless you want to break out a soldering iron. RGB drains battery aggressively. None of these matter much for the target buyer.

Verdict

The ZIYOULANG Type C Wireless is the budget wireless mechanical keyboard for remote workers and traveling programmers who want something better than a membrane laptop keyboard without spending Keychron prices. PBT caps, reliable wireless, and a sensible layout make this a no-brainer at $27.54.
