If you’re not in a rush, timing your purchase right is easy money. Here’s how to find actual deals rather than “sale” prices that were made up to be discounted.
When gaming chair prices actually drop
Black Friday and Cyber Monday
The biggest discount window for gaming chairs. Both Walmart and Amazon run real discounts on gaming chairs during this period — typically 20–40% off across budget and mid-range models. Secretlab runs their biggest annual sale during Black Friday. If you’re buying a premium chair, this is the best time to do it.
Amazon Prime Day (July)
Second best sale event. Gaming peripherals and furniture see real discounts. Budget gaming chairs often hit their lowest prices here. Mid-range options see 15–25% off. Not quite Black Friday levels, but worth timing a purchase around if you’re watching a specific chair.
Back to school season (August–September)
Desk furniture including gaming chairs drops in price as retailers clear inventory for the new season. Walmart and Target both run chair discounts here. Good time for budget buyers who don’t want to wait until November.
End-of-model clearance

Auto-apply coupon codes at checkout. Both work with Walmart and Amazon. They don’t always find codes, but when they do it’s free money with no effort. Worth having installed.
Google Shopping alerts
Set a Google alert for “[chair name] price drop” or “[chair name] sale.” You’ll get notified when news articles or retail pages mention the chair in the context of a discount. Crude but effective for specific chairs you’re watching.
Red flags for fake “deals”
- “Was $299, now $149” on a no-name brand. This is a common pattern where the “was” price is fabricated. Check CamelCamelCamel to see if it ever actually sold at $299.
- Coupon codes that require signing up for a mailing list. The discount is real, but you’re trading your email for it. Fine if you want the deal; know what you’re doing.
- Lightning deals with countdown timers. Some are genuine inventory clearances. Some are artificial scarcity on products that never run out. The price history check solves this — if the “deal price” is the actual regular price, it’s not a deal.
What to buy at each price point during a sale
